Directors of great movies aren't perfect

According to the trivia, the director Randal Kleiser didn't like the theme song Grease saying it was "too dark and cynical" and thought You're the One That I Want 'sounded awful'

IMHO those two songs bookend the movie perfectly and are a major part of what set it apart from any other random musical of the time.

I wonder how he feels about the songs today.
