So the message I got from this film was

Cool people smoke, skip class, and do their best to lose their virginity before they graduate.

Your school may be liberal enough to have a woman teaching auto body shop but not enough to have any visible racial diversity.

Building a car in school with stolen parts for the purpose of illegal street racing has no consequences.

Adult supervision is for suckers.

It's pretty much a given that TV personalities are allowed to be creepy as hell with minors.

Don't be yourself and give into peer pressure as much as possible.

And finally once your best friend has finished modifying his car to showroom condition just steal it and it will fly. For no reason. Just as long as you do it in the middle of a huge musical number.

reply

Maybe you should stop watching movies until you understand the concept of them.

Swing away, Merrill....Merrill, swing away...

reply

She understand the concept of this one perfectly!

reply

Exactly. Worst post ever

Actually, the car that flies was the other car that was won in the race. Greased Lightning was Kenikie's car. When he won the race he got the pink slip to the other dude's car and it became his. I assume he gave it to Danny, who repainted it and souped it up, as that is clearly the car he's driving at the end of the film.

As for it flying...well, that's a headscratcher and yeah, no explainable reason for that.

Neville, did you say a pig was climbing up the outside of the house?

reply

You are correct on every count.

reply

agree, it's a silly, superficial movie where nothing goes any deeper than skin level

so many movies, so little time

reply

What'd you expect, something similar to an after school special or a public service announcement for kids? This is what happens in high school. Racial diversity? You do know this was set in 1959 or don't you?

reply

I thought that the "flying" car was a raffle prize. The sign at the carnival said: "Win the Car of Your Dreams".

"You cannot boil a llama and expect it to taste like a grilled monkey".

The message I got from your post was that you don't know much about the 50s.

reply

Grease was a romp. It didn't have a message.

reply

What I learned from your post is you have no imagination, no sense of humor, and can't just watch a movie without analyzing it to death. I bet you're a really fun person at parties. This was just a silly movie that had some good music and was fun, for me anyway, to watch. Get over yourself.

reply

I couldn't agree more. To me schools should be like that- mixed nonuniform relaxed

reply

Bravo!
