Wasting Time (SPOILERS!!)

Interesting story until they came up with the idea to blast the rock that was holding the sub at an angle. That's when they started to do everything in slow motion. The same guy that set the charge was the only guy that could set it off? How much training soes it take to push a plunger?
Then, after the charge goes off, they decide to lower the DSRV. Why not have it in the water ready to go? Why did they have to wait for the little sub to get back down before they blow the charge? What good is a DSRV if it can only take 10 or 15 guys at once? If the damaged sub had the full crew, it would have taken hours to rescue them all.
The movie just seemed to lose credibility at that point just to try and build suspense. Because it's a movie, I'm sure we all knew the plan was going to work, so rather than being suspenseful, it became annoying. Still, it was an okay movie.

The DSRV seen in the film is the real mccoy, and it can only take up to 24 passengers at a time. Check Wikipedia/Google for DSRV-1 Mystic and read about the real rescue sub seen in the film. Everything related to that sub, the transportation, launching etc of it seen in the film is very realistic.

Why they had to go all the way up to push the plunger and detonate the explosives however, I'll never know.

Under the circumstances, they should have packed everybody in. So the DSRV only takes 24 passengers? Let them all sit on each other's laps-there'll be enough air in the short time it would take to get to the surface. If they had taken everybody the first time, the captain of the Snark wouldn't have had to die.

the children in the sub could only work for 4 hours a day so they had to take them up and down several times
