Ed Begley Jr's Admissions on 10/12/09

Ed was on Opie and Anthony's Radio show on 10/12/09. During the great discussion, he admitted to HIS heavy drug use before, during and after this movie. He was so bad that John and Judy Belushi would drive him around the desert to try to talk sense to him. Imagine that - John the voice of reason and concern. Ed was very close to killing himself with drugs and booze. Then one day, in California, following Belushi's death, he swore it off and has been clean for about 25 years. I did not find any other mentions of Ed's experiences in online Bio's etc. His recollections on 10/12/09 were extremely moving and effective. Its forced me to wake up. I hope Ed adds this life experience to his Green efforts and widely advocates cleaning up the environment AND one's personal bad habits. Thanks Ed.

I never thought Ed Begley Jr. had it in him, and I'm glad he out it out of him. Is that interview available online? The only site I could find that had it was charging to hear it.

That is the only time I heard this from Ed Begley. Might want to shoot O@A an email and see if they can provide the link. Good luck. I love O@A had have been listening to them on XM since November, 2004 - right after they went Satellite. The reception is crystal clear and their repeats off-hours are a pleasant companion when working late in the high desert where you can't get AM/FM.

Thanks for the tip. I'll check it out.

I really don't know much about Ed Begley Jr. outside of his many film and television roles, plus his environmentalism and the fact that his father was Juror No. 10. I'm kind of surprised to hear of his drug use, but the '70s were an era of excess for almost everyone.
