The syndicate sounds great!

The part where Gig Young is talking to Billy and his girlfriend in the restaurant always has me scratching my head a bit.

When he talks about the syndicate he lists this whole bunch of what sound like really good deals -

"They take care of everything, the bookings, your salary, taxes. If you need five thousand in your pocket you got it."

He then goes on to say "You can sign with them and live very well" which says to me that they offer good deals which last long term and don't suddenly just change.

The funny thing is he doesn't once list any negatives apart from some wistful bollocks about "cost" which I assume he is regarding to the soul. He doesn't actually say that anything bad happens to anyone who signs with the syndicate and I find it really funny.

Fair enough, they are criminals and morally you wouldn't want anything to do with them but it sounds like if you play ball you get a very good life and so keeping your head down and nose clean could be great as it seems the bad stuff only happens if you resist them.

A bit of altered dialogue wouldn't have gone amiss there saying that for example in a year's time they try to take too much off you or something but as it is it sounds like Billy is making a lot of hassle for himself.
