Richard Kiel as Chetnik Captain Drazak

The hulking, 7-feet tall Richard Kiel played an unusual, interesting role as Chetnik partisan, Captain Draznak.

Isn't it interesting that Hollywood always manages to place a key character in a movie who just happens to speak passable English so that the English-speaking actors can communicate with the 'foreigners'? So out in the middle of nowhere, Yugoslavia, circa 1943, Harrison Ford and his commando team find a 7-feet tall Yugoglav who speaks better than pidgin English.

Also, the Captain Draznak character doesn't exhibit any real military leadership ability. It looks like he got his job because he was a very big guy and could be counted upon to be brutal to the enemy and brutal enough to keep his own men in line. If anyone needed a political commissar to help him run the company it would have been Captain Draznak. A guy like that would no doubt remain a captain throughout the war. If he was lucky he might be allowed the honor of retiring as a major. There's no way Draznak would make a good field grade commissioned officer. He was already marginal as a company grade commissioned officer, captain.
