the music

I've heard that music in the movie before! Can anyone tell me where I've heard it before?

reply

If its the sound effects whenever the Scorpion is fighting, its music used during the House of Blue Leaves fight in Kill Bill Vol. 1. It is also on the soundtrack.

reply

Yes, as blur81 mentioned, some of the music and sound effects are featured on the Kill Bill soundtrack. This is due mostly to the fact that RZA produced some of the music for Kill Bill. RZA and the Wu-Tang have long been fans of martial arts movies, and this is one of their favorites. Even on their first album, many samples from this movie were used (including the description of toadstyle from the intro). Also on Masta Killa's album "No Said Date," many many samples from this movie alone are used.

I haven't seen this movie in a while, but I remember having the exact same feeling. But it's gotta be from more than Kill Bill and Wu-Tang?

reply

Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Song is the same... not sure what it's called though.

Anybody know the classical titles on that Soundtrack?

Nearly all the music heard in Five Venoms (and all Shaw Brothers films) were from De Wolfe, a music library company based in the UK.
They made music specifically for use in films and tv and the film companies who normally didn't have the budget to score their own music would often license music from companies like De Wolfe.
The music you hear in Monty Python & the Holy Grail was also De Wolfe and was used in many, many Shaw films as well.
That one sound effect that was used in both Five Venoms and Kill Bill is from a De Wolfe sound fx record lp called "Electroshake Vol.2".
The opening theme in Five Venoms (where the dying teacher is showing his student the hidden chambers where he used to teach the masked Poison Clan students) is from a De Wolfe record entitled "A Rose For Dracula".

Hope that helps.

I personally prefer that rare, remixed version.

"You know my style. You know my name.
I know .. who .. you are.
- Paul Nice - .
That guy? Hmphhh - so what!"

I hope someday, when the Master finally descends those lofty mountains of Shaolin, that he'll finish that kung-fu mix. Otherwise, we shall suffer the same as poor Wang Yu who, wanting to avenge the death of his father, only possessed an incomplete book and was forced to make up the rest in order to beat the evil Pai Mei. ;)

when i first saw the 5 deadly venoms I started cracking up when it played!!!

Also in Ol' Dirty Bastard's Return To The 36 Chamber on the track Snakes it has the intro of the movie character with the snake style at the start of the song.

If you listen to En Vogue's song "Free Your Mind", you'll hear a bit of (what almost sounds like) a sample of the music in the scene where the 3 are walking into the Snakes house. Right before the final fight.

The song that was in The Holy Grail was also in George Romero's Dawn of the Dead.

Yep my favourite track is when the police are waiting for the Centipede to come and ambush him.. very good. Same tune's played a few times in the film, I believe?

When the Lizard and the youngster are devising strategies for defeating the three bad guys' styles there's another song playing I like (like when the scene goes bluish as they're planning to beat 'em).
