Possible Plot Hole

The plot of the movie centers around the Venoms trying to find the treasure. We know that Scorpion finds a map detailing its location early on.

So why does he stick around?

He could have left with the treasure at any point after he found it, and then disappeared. Perhaps it's because I've only seen the movie in English, but there doesn't seem to be any reason for him to come back. He alone knows where the treasure is and doesn't have to share it with anyone.

But what if the following happened? When he told Lizard "I'm going to visit my sick mother, be back later", what he really did was go get the treasure and then hide it somewhere else. In its place, he put a bunch of traps. He kept the map on his person, knowing that the other Venoms (who were his competitors) would be looking for it, and if they should kill him, they would find the map and go to the treasure, being killed by the traps he laid.

This gives him a reason to come back: to make sure the other Venoms are killed. The movie never says anything like this but I can't think of any other reason he would stay. I think it's a hole in the plot.
