Help finding another movie

In 2008, one of the cable channels kept playing a movie that I watched bits and pieces of several times, but I never caught the name of it. It looked like it had been made fairly recently (at the time). It was a sort of kung fu movie with some spectacular elements, like there was this one guy who was in his village and the village was burnt down. He had burns all over his body, so this other character an evil character) gave him a black cloak that made him look like a crow, but as long nas he wore the cloak, he had some special powers adn he wasn't affected by his burn injuries. Later, the evil person gets this guy to do bad things by threatening to take the cloak away.

There was also a guy who was a retired general who lived away from civilization with his young wife. The prince (or emporer) wanted him dead, so he summoned the retired general saying the prince had been killed. When the general arrived, they arrested him.

There was another character who had been part of some kind of army that was enslved to another guy. He had the slaves on their hands and knees all the time in a big herd until this one guy decided he was tired of it and stood up on two feet and revolted.

Any help in identifying this movie is greatly apprecaited.

Fancy seeing you here! 

I got into these movies recently at the Way of the Turkey marathon on the El Rey channel. They're showing a marathon or mini one today, too. I'll think on your question when I can think more clearly. Worn out from the TZ marathon.

Yeah, my brother and I would watch these every Sunday afternoon on whatever local station that was for us. They had what they called the "Sunday Afternoon Bloodbath."

I ran across the Five Deadly Venoms and started watching it. It's one that I remember seeing several times as a kid.

As for the one from 2008, that one still has me stumped. I put a query on TVTropes and thought for sure someone would know what it was right away, but no luck.

I'll keep my eyes open as I watch more of these. I find them oddly comforting. Also, I started a list on IMDb you can find in my profile that I just updated with ten movies of the genre that are in a blog post I found titled Top 10 Bizarre Kung Fu Films: http://listverse.com/2010/05/25/top-10-bizarre-kung-fu-films/ My list is just films I seen recently or ones I find I want to watch, like on that list. Oddly Ii could have sworn I had many more on my list from the Way of the Turkey marathon, but only found a few when I went to update it. Maybe I didn't save it properly or gave up at the time because it gets confusing due to the different names they go by and some have the same names.

Also, I found this bit about Five Deadly Venoms which is also know as Five Venoms vs. Wu Tang. (Or am I getting all of this confused at this point? I'm pretty tried after the TZ marathon.): Chang Cheh's super-heroic, grand guignol-flavored thriller proved hugely popular in America, inspiring a U.S. soft drink commercial, and even an entire rap music act's world tour. It also spawned a film series featuring more amazing, high-flying blade-juggling, flesh-stabbing mayhem. - Written by Celestial Pictures I'll probably submit the information to be added along with the alternative title when I'm thinking more clearly. It seems odd they wouldn't include the other title given the influence it's had on popular culture.

Oh, well... I'll try to save the world of Kung fu titles another day.

That's an interesting list. None of those look familiar and we watched a lot of those when we were kids. That Wu-Tang one is definitely a different one from the other one with the Five Deadly Venoms.

The thing that always got to me in those movies was that they were almost always tragedies. At the end, all or most of the good guys were killed, but we still watched them. We even watched the silly American versions that they made before the Chuck Norris movies. Some of those were really terrible and had no redeeming qualities.

If you do come across the one I'm looking for or anything similar, I really appreciate it.
