Keitel's acting

He was very reminiscent of his buddy Bobby DeNiro is this film, that and a touch of John Savage. Some parts were a tad overdone I thought. I just wish the film didn't end so abruptly the way it did.

how is he reminiscent of deniro? he's his own actor and has passion and talent in spades that more then match up with deniro's best work.

reply

That is not about having more talent. I'm saying his style..mannerisms were reminiscent of deniro imo. They are good friends and have done a lot of work together so why should that be surprising?

just go ahead and say it...admit it. Im an A_hole!

Don't get me wrong, I love DeNiro, but Bobby D has never done ANYTHING as good as "Bad Lieutenant". THAT'S some acting.

Son, you can't polish a turd

It's a subdued performance in a film that would have been cheesy had he gone over the top. This film rests on the performance of Harvey Keitel because he's in almost every shot, and he carries it off very well.

He looked so much like Malcolm McDowell in this it kept bothering me. Between the bowl haircut and the shape his body was in at the time I felt like he was the spitting image of a young Malcolm.
