Unbelivable mess

Where do I begin ,,,Faye constantly screaming throughout the film. A complete turn around with Jones character, which was rather amateurishly done. The obvious diversion of the character Tommy, and the nut screaming at the wake in the crowd and the 'cross dressing' of Faye's partner. In fact, what he did to that detective by slamming his purse at him and calling him a S.O.B., in today's society he would have been shot to death.LOL As I vaguely recall, during the '70's, movies were being made to trick audiences by surprise endings, which brought to mind a film that was popular at that time, starring Michael Caine, dressed as a woman to continue with his serial killing...I believe it was called "Dressed To Kill"., a much better movie that this one.

People's complaints about DRESSED TO KILL are roughly the same as EYES OF LAURA MARS. And as they're of the same era and genre, that's to be expected.

EYES is a tad better, I think.

They are both a bit cheesy and silly, but also suspenseful and entertaining in a "so bad it's good" kind of way. Both had great casts, as well.

But...to be fair....I was 17 or 18 when these first came out and watched them both on their original theatrical runs. At the time, these films were somewhat avant garde and edgy....approaching the suspense genre in a new Post-Hitchcock style that was both an homage to his stylistry, but also explored new ways of storytelling....sometimes hit and miss. The passing of time has made them funny and campy, whereas at the time they were kind of sophisticated films....or, at least, that is how I perceived them at that age. Go figure!

It's good enough though by the end it tries to be more clever than it is.
