Watched Mafia Massacre last night, not the worst movie, I'd never seen it before. Having never heard of Mr Mitchell I was immediately struck by his vocal similarity and slight appearance resemblance to Mickey Rourke, even wondered if he was Mickey's dad! Then I listened to the commentary with Duke's son, who wasn't around for the shoot, thus the track revealed little more than speculation on the locations used and some famous family friends name dropping.
The opening massacre accompanied by the Italian song was hilarious and I can see why Quentin Tarantino is a fan, the characters seem inspirational to both Dogs and Pulp Fiction in their veritable quirkiness. I must say how impressive the picture and sound are, having read all the opinions of those here on IMDB I was expecting something barely watchable and while the image is soft I can't imagine it looking that much better on the big screen; due to the budget and technical limitations of all concerned. Code Red DVD's recent Pets release looks far worse. Massacre has been assembled from a variety of tape sources according to the moderator on the commentary track, who tries to raise some pertinent points only to have Jeffery Mitchell pointedly change the subject. Glad I took the plunge and a worthy addition to my collection.
