Clyde's Trainer/Abuser FINALLY Punished

http://blog.peta.org/archives/2007/02/animalbeater_bo.php

While I'm not a big PETA fan, they sometimes do some real good. They have been after Bobby Berosini for a long time and have cost him $650,000 so far in court costs that he's had to pay. He has had orangutans for many years and was FINALLY caught on tape beating them. Let's just say the judge wasn't very sympathetic. This link has a video of his "training" methods if you can stomach watching it.

Since Clint is known for the care he takes with animals on his sets I doubt if he knew anything about the treatment Clyde was receiving off set. It would have been nice if Dirty Harry had paid Berosini a vist later though.

If Clyde had been treated decently these movies would be a lot more fun to watch. Clint has a wry sense of humor and it was nice to see him do something lighter.

Yeah, I have to say that it is extremely sad to think that Clyde may have been treated in that way. While all evidence seems to point to Berosini using this horrible and brutal training method, it is possible that he didnt use this same method on Clyde, and possibly only ever did it that one time that he was caught. This is my hope, however unlikely that hope is.

Still these are enjoyable films and we at least know that while onset Clyde was treated well by Clint and all concerned.

What happened to the orangutan who was Clyde in this film ? A different orangutan was used as Clyde in " Any which way you can ", wasn't it, and wasn't that the one who was killed by it's owner ?.I was very shocked to read about that !!. I'm glad his trainer has finally been punished !!.

The Clyde from Any Which Way You Can died about 2 weeks after the film was done shooting.

Do you think he wants some cheese?

I agree, I hope that Clyde wasn't abused and hopefully avoided all that during the filming. but yeah, Clint clearly liked him a whole lot, & I think if he had known about any abuse he would've went ape(no pun intended)with him being an animal lover and all.

Wow, that story adds an eerie undercurrent to "Bang, Clyde!"

Hey don't get me wrong, I'm an animal lover (and a big Clyde fan) which is why I was intrigued by this topic; however, you might not know all of the facts in this story. It appears it might have more to do with Peta manipulating the facts and essentially hiring an inside guy (circus guy)to scare the orangs to get them to act out. I will be the first to admit that the video doesn't make me feel too good about things but I also know that the video in question was highly manipulated by editing (I work in television as an editor) and simple research will point to Peta doing this type of thing in other cases as well. To top it all off, Berosini was intitially awarded a 4.2 million dollar settlement for slander, libel and defimation of character against Peta and the circus dancer (Ottavio Gesmundo). Upon appeal Berosini subject to paying Peta's court fees (250K?) but then that was later dropped (?!) Not sure of the latest but here are some interesting links that might have you a little less sure of yourselves:

And that is the mega problem with Peta. They feel the end always justifies the means and they lose all credibility, because they will lie, cheat, steal, and murder to try to get people to follow their agenda or fall in line with their beliefs on animal treatment.

I love animals, and I would love to see these bastards punished, but PETA sickens me because they're nothing short of a terrorist organization in principal.

They murder people?

They do put down more animals annually than the ASPCA and Humane Society combined.

reply

That's because they deal with abused, tortured or unwanted animals. Of course they're going to put down tons of them.

I've never understood how this was a fair criticism for PETA. I agree they do some weird stuff but this is not one of them. This is just the sad reality of animal neglect.

They kill all pets you give to them almost immediately
