Under-rated Masterpiece!

I love this movie so much I had the DVD shipped from the US, I live in England. It's one of my dad's favourite movies too, so many one-liners and the Polish jokes still get told in our family 2day, my 15yr old son has now seen it several times. His favourite line is "I hope your nuts rust!"
I remember when I was younger, my dad had this film on VHS, we were watching it one afternoon and we must have worn out the tape watching the part where Sonny & Marlon are in the tower. When Marlon goes to push Sonny off the window ledge, misses and dives out of the window is classic, the scream he makes on the way down is soooo funny, my dad was crying with laughter! It still makes me laugh to this day and for me, ranks along side Basil Fawlty beating his little red car with a branch as one of the funniest moments on TV/Film from my youth!

YOU'RE RIGHT SONNY, IT'S NOT HIGH ENOUGH!!'

I completely agree. It's a hilarious film that also has a strong sense of humanity. It has excellent performances and a very strong script. It's a good mix of jokes and physical humor. I also suspect this would also be good therapy for someone contemplating suicide.

I loved "The End" when I first saw it almost 30 years ago, and I love it today.

Very funny, but dark. It would make a good remake with say, Ben Stiller and Jack Black.

reply

Interesting idea. Normally I don't like remakes, but your cast choices have me thinking this just might work.

reply

It kind of casts itself. Burt could even play Carl Reiner.

reply

Oh, please, not Jack Black, I'd like to watch it.

This will be the high point of my day; it's all downhill from here.

Definitely at least an 8 and probably the best BR movie. And the fact thet he directed makes it better somehow. I love this movie.
