Rather Silly Plot Holes (Mini Spoilers too)

Okay, Zoltan and Smith are both brought back from the dead by simply having the stakes shoved through their hearts removed - and then they are hell bent on locating another member of the family of the Dracula family to be their new master. Hang on, in the tomb they were found in, in the remaining coffin is their old master, the late Count Dracula himself, presumably also able to be fully restored to life by simply removing the stake through his heart as well? He's right there for goodness sake, they bring him back and its job done, no need for their shambolic efforts in locating Drake in California. I can almost hear Smith's telepathic voice now, 'Zoltan! Zoltan! Why did we not think of that? We are imbeciles!'

Also, despite the fact that Inspector Branco is sensible and decides to travel to California by plane, while Smith travels by cargo ship, which from Romania would take weeks - and I suspect that he'd end up on the east coast of the US if he went by normal shipping lines, so he'd be looking at additional travel once he arrived - how in the name of damn does he get there first??????

When Zoltan re-awakens Veidt Schmidt, the tomb is very unstable and debris is falling and there are further earth tremors so they leave before they are buried and trapped. Also not all of the tomb's stone covers are broken open by the earth tremors and the their master (shown as "Igor Dracula" on the tablet), is higher up and can't be reached. Zoltan actually goes to his tomb first when the soldier pulls out his stake and there is a flashback sequence as to how he originally became a Dracula dog. It is only after this that he goes to Veidt Schmidt, presumably so he can help him reach their master's coffin. There is a discussion between Major Hessel and Inspector Branco where she says she will get him a special visa to travel to America, but that it may take some time. I suppose this is because Romania at that time was still a hardline Communist state and travel to the US would not be allowed under normal circumstances. I think this is why Veidt Schmidt had time to reach California before the Inspector.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending this film as it is pretty ridiculous. However I first saw this around about 1980 and as a 7 year old, it scared the hell out of me and I have had a soft spot for it ever since.
