To see a truly legendary thread about casting you need to look up the one on the HOBBIT I board (I think); someone suggested Martin Freeman play Bilbo about a zillion years before the movie was even announced. ☺
the funny isn't that it ended up actually being Cumberbatch, the joke was
that he looks like the sloth in Ice Age. He himself mentioned this on some show
while promoting STRANGE, and I found that funny as hell.
