Could Have Been Much Better

Inside Dominique is a much better film trying to get out. It's a shame they spent the entire budget on such a starry cast and not deployed more money on to the script.

The print I have of this film is not great, but still the colour is muddy and much of it is badly lit and shot in semi darkness.

The cast are generally pretty wooden with the exception of Ron Moody. Although he does not have much dialogue and much of his part has been edited out, he makes the most of his mime skills and clowns face as the frightened doctor.

Heavy editing appears to have taken place. The general running time is given (and on my copy) as 100 minutes but ends on 94.

Pity, could have been a much better movie.

I totally understand, Paul Witham. I might even agree, however I like the slow paced film with its oppressive ambience. I am a big fan of Cliff Robertson. I consider him to be one of the most interesting actors in this century. I adore Jean Simmons. Her voice is so warm and embracing. Sure, this movie doesn’t have the scary CGI effects that we have become used to. The action is slow. I was into the somber mood, suspense and mystery of the story.

I had a problem with David Ballard’s tombstone appearing suddenly in the cemetery with no date of death. I don’t think that a funeral home would ever mount a headstone with no date of death… and no body. And when Ballard scratched the thin plate off, the stone had the word ‘soon’ scribbled there. That was a bit lame and made me chuckle instead of shiver.

I also wished Dr Rogers had more of a part in the movie.

Otherwise, I moved it.

A little late I know, but as long as the plot and tombstone are paid for it doesn't matter whether the person is deceased or not. Usually more wealthy people pay things in advance to make sure everything is settled.

this is done all the time.

I enjoyed it until the end. It seemed they decided to wrap it up pretty fast.
