How did this film end? Will someone re-'spoil' it for me?

I haven't seen this film since I was a kid. I have fond memories of it though....lol....

But I cannot remember how it ends! Will someone please tell me?

******SPOILERS******

After getting advice from a librarian, Mike Barry flies to Equador, where he meets a mysterious holy man who tells him how to stop the devil dog which has taken over his family. In addition, Mike's hand is tattooed with mystic symbols, which will imprison the creature in Hell for another 1000 years if the beast looks upon the symbols. Mike returns to the USA, driving at night, and the devil dog sees him. Mike leads the dog to his place of work, some type of manufacturing plant. The devil dog changes into his true form, a huge, monstrous beast and attacks Mike. Mike holds up his hand with the mystic symbols, the creature sees it, howls in pain, and is sent back to Hell. Last scene has the family all returned to normal, no longer under the spell of the devil dog, getting into a car and driving away.

You forgot a small detail. Before getting into the car, Charlie tells Mike: "There were several other puppies in that basket. What do you think happened to them?".

After that question, Mike puts his hand over Charlie's shoulder and together get into the car.

at the end they showed a litter of puppies with one puppie standing to the side with that look in his eye.

I have a VHS and DVD copy of "Devil Dog," and neither end with that description. Rather, we see the Barry family driving away to either a vacation or moving to a new home. Maybe you have a foreign copy with an alternate ending, although I've never read about such a thing for this movie.

I just watched the Media Blasters DVD, and that didn't have the ending with the litter of puppies. I was actually expecting something like that, but the film ended with the car driving away. It seemed somehow incomplete.

it may not have been at the end but it was before. because the dog got someone pregnant.

Lucky got someone pregnant? So it was one of his pups, not his siblings?

you know what.you are right my sister told me that i got mans best friend ending mixed up with devil dog.

I think someone is confusing this movie with "Man's Best Friend" a similar movie about a genetically altered killer dog, let loose from an animal testing lab by Ally Sheedy. In that movie "Max" does get the neighbors Sheltie pregnant, and at the end of the film they focus on tye litter of puppies, one of which looks overly serious and just like Max.
