this movie scared the *beep* out of me as a kid

Shocking how different a child's imagination is to an adult's, isn't it?

This movie scared me big time when I was a child too!
I still remember the scene where Richard Crenna's character tries to shoot the devil dog...and it just stands there calmly.


"I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus."
"Didn't he discover America?"
"Penfold, shush."

Exactly! Me too. Even the music that constantly repeats during the movie is quite creepy when a child.

I don't think I'd be scared of it even as a child. I watched Dark Shadows and most of the Nightmare on Elm Street films as a child and loved them rather than being afraid so I think I'd enjoy this film even then but I wouldn't be afraid.

For some unknown reason this film really stuck with me for years. Must watch it again someday
