I remember watching this a long time ago.Is this the same movie where Mark Hammil and Annie Potts are driving around in a Triumph TR7 when their Corvette goes missing?Also is this the same movie where someone shoots a Pontiac Firebird in the motor and it blows up?

Mark Hamill and Annie Potts are driving in a van. Later in the movie, the bad guy, Wayne, shoots his Firebird and it explodes...

I think the movie you are thinking of is "Smokey Bites The Dust". Jimmy McNichol drives a black TR-7 convertible, he's dressed in a black tuxedo with a top hat.
