No they're not! I'm just out in front. Is this supposed to be some profound statement? They seem to be making every left/right turn Duck is making so they ARE following him.

I know this is a year and a half-old question, but....

I don't think this statement was profound so much as it was maybe a bit prescient, instead.

When the reporter is interviewing the truckers in the convoy over the CB, Melissa mentions how they're all talking about their own problems - that it's not just about following the Duck. I think Duck already understood this when the convoy first rolled out. They all have gripes and grudges against "the system" so, yes, he just happened to be the catalyst of a movement that was already building.

They weren't following him - he just happened to be in front.
