Interview with Michael Biehn..

Q: Obviously, these guys like to find opportunities for actors whom they think are underappreciated. When you met Tarantino did he tell you he loved you in a certain movie someone might not expect?

Biehn: The thing about Quentin is that he's got two of the worst movies that I ever did in film canisters sitting at his house. One of them is called Zuma Beach with Suzanne Somers, and the other one was called The Coach with Kathie Lee Crosby, and they were both kind of these youth sexploitation movies. You know, at the time when I was a kid I was proud of them. But now it's so bizarre that Quentin Tarantino -- and I know he's got a lot of movies -- but that you would think that he [would like] The Terminator, Tombstone, The Abyss. But he was like, "Dude, The Coach. I love The Coach!" It was like, "Uh, great. I haven't heard that reference in like 20 years."

I saw "Coach" at the drive in back in the 70's.My wife and I were in school with a girl who was engaged to and later married Michael Biehn's brother,so we sort got updates on his efforts to get into acting...never met him though.Did pretty well for himself,I'd say!

Aw man, no one can ever forget skatetown U.S.A. Micheal Biehn is my favorite actor and I love all of his work.

I remember watching COACH when I was a kid and the thing that stuck to my mind is Jabberwalkie when they use hypnosis on one of the guys on the basketball team. I loved the movie and thought it was great to watch! Cathy Lee Crosby was hot in the movie!

I watched this on Sunday night for the first time since the early 80's. It was shown a lot on HBO or even on cable back in the day before they started showing a lot of the most current movies that are on today. Great movie to watch and I got this along with 11 other classic movies that I watched as a kid and teenager!

Tarantino's always referencing obscure/cult flicks. I'm just surprised he has the actual prints of those two movies. Can't imagine why anyone would want to see either film on a large screen. Outside of a few shots of nudity, neither one is all that memorable imo.

"Outside of a few shots of nudity, neither one is all that memorable imo."

You forgot the fact that Michael Biehn was in them both ;)

Obscure movies are a lot more fun than mainstream-movies, because they are just that: Obscure. And obscure often means interesting! :D

Everybody knows Aliens, Abyss, Tombstone, etc, but there's only a select few people (ie. mega-buffs/über-nerds) who know about The Coach and Zuma Beach - even though they're both mostly crap, lol.
