Almost all Five Deadly Venoms

I love the movie Five Deadly Venoms (FDV) and last night I watched Return of the Five Deadly Venoms (Return of FDV) for the first time. I was a little surprised that the movies seemingly have nothing to do with each other. It took me a little while to realize, but I think most of the actors who played the venoms in FDV are in the Return of FDV.

Here is my conclusion. There are really six main characters in FDV. There are the five original pupils (what I would call the five venoms), and then there is the last pupil who goes out to find the five venoms.

Pupil 1 - Centipede
Pupil 2 - Snake
Pupil 3 - Scorpion
Pupil 4 - Lizard
Pupil 5 - Toad
Last Pupil (Pupil 6) - 2nd Lizard

I believe five of the six actors from FDV appear in Return of FDV.

1 - Centipede - Iron Hands
2 - Snake - not in Return of FDV
3 - Scorpion - Iron Legs
4 - Lizard - Blind
5 - Toad - Deaf and Dumb
6 - 2nd Lizard - Idiot

So, while the two movies really have nothing to do with each other, I now understand the meaning behind the title of Return of the Five Deadly Venoms.

Return of the Five Deadly Venoms is a stupid American retitle invented by a dumbarse to cash in on The Five Venoms popularity. It's more popularly known as CRIPPLED AVENGERS.

i havent seen this one but i bought the first one and watch it yesterday and it was tight as f.ck,that last battle at the end is my favorite fight scene in the movie its so sick and wu tang clan took a bit of the beginning when that old guys talkin about the toad style, i think they put it in "Da mystery of Chessboxin".anyways it was tight as f.ck.

"My wrist aint lit up,i dont even live that life/Gold,diamonds,platnium,I give to my wife/"-KRS-ONE

The actor who played the snake isnt really considered part of the venom crew.

i love this movie as well as many of the other venoms flicks...but yes the snake is considered part of the group...although he wasnt in sum of the flicks, my favorite is the scorpian, he kicks like hell in the ending of golden arm, thats gotta be my favorite fight scene in that movie, i like this movie the best though, the story is a little flimsy, but what kung fu movies from the 70s period are? they all involve revenge

Anyway all what you said is true.
And I like them all since they have their awesome qualities such as:

Toad: Incredible physique.
Gekko: Sturdy character.
Snake: Spirtual character (Probably the only character who could have an oscar)
Scorpion: OMFGHPWNDNOOBS kicks.
Centipede: Unbelievable skill.
Last pupil AKA 2nd Gekko: Entertaining.

My favourite is the Gekko since he's such a hustler xD

The last student is a hybrid venom as he has been taught some of all styles.

It is simply another Chang Cheh movie features the Venom Mob. It is a dumb title I agree and even after watching the first one how could you have possibly thought it was a continuation. Most of the venoms die at the end.

As a long time Shaw Bros. Film lover,(I first saw the 5 venoms in 1981) ,I must say that ,Crippled Avengers ,is probably my favorite of all time. Even though ,I love the 5 Venoms,as it would take a film like that to really grab American audiences, but Crippled is just so much cooler IMO. I also Love Magnificent ruffians, and Avenging Shao-lin .What I ,truly hope for ,is a Blu-Ray version of Crippled Avengers, and Magnificent Ruffians!!as it is amazing the the 5 Deadly Venoms has come out on Blu-Ray.

I'll nit pick your last statement just for fun, even though I mostly agree with it.

However, it wouldn't be the first time that Shaw Brother or Chang Cheh have done something that breaks continuity with stories/cast.

In Brave Archer, Lu Feng (Centipede)plays one of Fu Sheng's 7 teachers, the one who is killed by Brass Body. In Brave Archer 3, Lu Feng plays Zhang Shaoshou, the woodcutter. And Brave Archer 3 is an official sequel to Brave Archer. So it's not impossible for them to create a sequel with the same actors even if characters portrayed by the main actors from the first movie died.

But yes, I do agree it was a stupid title to use, but of course, that's not the fault of Shaw Brothers; it's the American distribution company's fault (or whomever had the rights to it at the time in the US).
