The dedication at the end?

I got interrupted just as the film was ending on tv. I thought I saw a dedication which read something like: "This film is dedicated to the people who loved Buddy first" and then the names of his parents and siblings (presumably). Can anyone confirm this or shed any light? Does it mean that Maria Elena obstructed the making of the film in some way, or that there were tensions between her and the rest of his family - or the film makers? I know that "The Real Buddy Holly Story" was made with the aim of correcting some misleading aspects of this film (such as?). Also the Wikipedia entry does say there are some tensions over the use of his name and some questions over her motives and role as "guardian" of his reputation. Any more information?

Read all about it, straight from Maria's mouth....

In a few months she will have no say, his name goes public domain in TX in Feb 2009.

I watched it last night and the dedication was to both Buddy's parents and Maria Elena.

There was absolutely tension between people in Lubbock and Maria but I've never felt that ME was the whole problem. She's hardly the only woman/spouse to make money off their spouse. And it does sound like she and Buddy were happy. The main tension seems to be the Lubbock faction blaming her for Buddy favoring New York. The whole thing is sad really.

It's interesting to wonder if BH had lived how things would have been resolved.
