dvd coming?
Anyone heard anything about this film being released anytime soon on DVD?
shareI actually have a DVD of it, can't even remember where I got it, but it's obviously a bootleg copy & NOT in letterbox like it should be. (way too much panning and scanning in the full screen version.)
I saw & met Mr. Ermey at a Mail Call signing about 18 months ago & asked him & he said there were no plans at this time to release it, but that there's always a chance they will later. Who knows, Milagro Beanfield War wasn't available until recently, so I can dream, can't I?
I thought Amazon had a sign up for DVD releases? I was just looking and they have it listed but not available but didn't see an item to allow sign ups. :(

yes, on occasion they do, I guess it all depends on the movie & the studio that owns it. I haven't seen anything on this movie though. Which is sad considering how great it is.
- another good movie w/Stan Shaw is "The Great Santini" with Robert Duvall.
There is a region 2 DVD released recently of 'the boys of company C' in letterbox. It has optional english with spanish subtitles. It is excellent quality. I highly recomend this dvd.

WHERE CAN I GET IT!!! whoo hoo! when I read this I became quite excited. I would dearly LOVE a letterboxed version. The pan & scan is pretty disgraceful.

I had a VHS tape made when the movie was on A&E in letter box, the tape was getting old so copied it to DVD. I would still love to get it on DVD
shareI purchased a DVD copy on ebay. It is a region 2 released from spain. It is letterbox with optional subtitles. If you play the english version, is has spanish subtitles, or in spanish with no subtitles. If you can find it on ebay I highly recommend it. IT is of excellent quality! It reminds me of the days when I saw it in the Drive-in theater many moons ago.

shareMt wife knows I'm dying to get this movie on DVD. She told me that she signed up at Amazon.com to receive notification when (if) it is finally released. I can't wait to be surprised when she gets it for me!
I saw some feedback about a DVD version that is region 2. I don't understand what that means. I live in North America. Can someone elaborate?

It's a European DVD. You need an all region DVD player to view it. It should work on your computer if you have a DVD drive. They also work on X-Box 360's.

You should be so lucky to at least have the pan and scan version. Mine is full screen but doesn't pan and scan so all you see in some shots are just a couple of noses talking to each other or somebody talking to a nose! The color is all washed out too. Looks like a bootleg.
shareBack in 2003 after much searching for a DVD copy, I finally found it from a California company called Pacific Family (it might have been Pacific Family Entertainment) for 21.95 plus postage. I had to call several times to find out when I would receive it but it did come after awhile.
I notice Amazon says it is not currently available.
Since one of the stars, Andrew Stevens, has his own company now, I suggest we try and contact him and see if he can obtain the rights and release it.
