I'd forgotten how hammy this was


Peck terribly miscast. Diabolical accents from all cast members. Poor (on the brink of being humorous) action sequences. Really quite poor at the end of the day given the theme and the players involved.

What could have been a great drama ended-up being a comedic parody.

Interesting... having read some of the comments online, I was prepared to cringe at the film. But I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed it. Peck is arguably miscast, but I liked seeing him as a villain, and the film still works regardless. A solid and entertaining thriller overall. Reminded me a bit of Hitchcock actually.

It's like other films based on Ira Levin's novels, "Rosemary's Baby" and "The Stepford Wives." They're entertaining but not meant to be taken seriously.
