Just ordered it and need to know something....
....how is Richard Pryor in this movie. It's the only movie I've ever heard of him doing a dramatic role.
shareRichard is great in this movie and i wish he had done more roles as great as in "Blue Collar".
shareYa I always thought he was excellent in the dramatic parts of his comedy movies so ya he could've done more dramatic roles but I guess that wasn't for him
shareI guess dramatic roles would have diminish his comediac career.
shareAnother dramatic role for RP - Lady Sings the Blues
shareTrue
shareThe reason to watch the film is for the three leads, all are outstanding. It was one of those roles that required them to be themselves, which is very hard for untrained actors to pull off.
Pryor's not only good in this, today he would be nominated. I haven't seen the film in 8- years, but I'll never forget how powerful it was (is-- and a great film to see these days giving what's going on.)
Trust me, you'll like it. The movie has it's humor too, and that's provided by Pryor. The guy was some genious at getting the good and sorrow of things.
Pryor showed just how great a performer he was. I'll always miss that man, his timing, facial expressions, vocal inflections. His genius.
Let's not forget he was pretty effective in Harlem Nights too.

That's a landmark film just for the cast it brought together. Foxx, Pryor and Murphy - three generations of smut-peddlers. And I write this with the greatest levels of respect and admiration!
