Was there more than just 'paint' in that spray booth?(spoilers).

Spoilers......

When Kotto is locked in the paint booth, he DOES have on his mask and protective gear, doesn't he?? If so....it would seem unlikely that mere "paint" would kill him like that.(Unless the mask had been "worked on". ) It never said so...but most likely a bit more than "paint" was sprayed in there. Perhaps a bit of chlorine gas or such, with the paint.

Just the fact that it is never explained makes that scene all more tense and memorable. The fact is, we don't know and we don't need to know. We're identified with that character.

I wore a breathing mask like that. You would be amazed how fast the filter gets clogged. If he had pulled paint feed lines and knocked out the heat lamps he would have lived through that attempt. He was suspicious enough to pickup on the phone call, so he should have seen that going down the second the sprayers came on. Too many people use credit to buy things they don't want, to impress people they don't like.

Good point, but I suspect the paint would have been enough. I thought the way that room operated was the worker would get the sprayers working, leave the room while the machine was running, then come back when the car was painted. So they would have minimal exposure to the fumes. But that's just my impression.

The whole thing was a total setup. They had rigged EVERYTHING--if you notice, he tried to kill the power to the sprayers-that did not work. Then, he tried to shut off the paint flow-that did not work either. It seemed as if his mask was not helping him, it was either rigged, or something deadly was coming out with the paint. And they had blocked the door shut too. SO they had prepared well for the murder, eliminating any hope of him getting out alive.
