Detroit

From top of my head at least, I can´t really think of any other movie I´ve seen that takes place in Detroit; seems like a very neglected town by Hollywood. Can anyone name any others set in that admittedly not-so-very-photogenic city?

Damnit, Wikipedia sucks all the fun out of everything; where´ll the sense of discovery be now... But I guess that´s what I asked for.

From that list I´d seen 5 films btw - Scarecrow, Narc, True Romance, Gran Torino and Beverly Hills Cop (the last one ´very´ long time ago). Of these, only Narc & Gran Torino take place in Detroit in their entirety, so that´s the partial excuse. For not recalling.

Being from the Detroit area, I know for a fact that Detroit in particular has many photogenic areas---some neighborhoods, the downtown area, and the main colleges (WSU,U OF D Mercy.) That's how come film companies came flying when the movie tax breaks in Michigan were enacted. I swear at least 3 to 4 productions were being shot downtown (and everywhere else) per week. Of course all that stopped after we elected a Repub govenor who got rid of the tax breaks, despite the fact that it was employing a good couple of hundred people, and also despite the fact that nothing he's done since has brought in a similar amount of jobs throughout the state. Here's a listing of films shot in Michigan period:

Just so you know, the current No. 1 box office hit, OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL, was filmed entirely in Pontiac, MI (mainly because director Sam Raimi, a former Detroit area native, fought to keep the production here instead of going to Canada like most productions usually do.) Both THE FIVE-YEAR ENGAGEMENT and SCREAM 4, were both filmed entirely in Ann Arbor,MI (about an hour south of the D.)

And I loved BLUE COLLAR---one of Richard Pryor's best films,ever--I only saw it one time back in the '80's--sadly, it dosen't seem to be available on DVD----it was shown recently on the BOUNCE channel---hopefully I can catch next time they show it!
