A THREE rating???!!

Did anyone actually pay attention to the fact that this was a pretty interesting story with a hell of an ending?

This was not your average 'Jaws ripoff'.

I didn't think it was that bad. I gave it five out of 10.

I did love the ending.

What do you think this is, a signature? It's a way of life!

If people didn't finish the movie then it's because they were pissed off by the bait and switch. Given the title and cover art, it looked like this would be a cheesy, dumb, popcorn-chewing rip-off of Jaws/Piranha. Instead it was a pseudo-intellectual, paranoid, silly, amateurish, anti-business/pro-ecology, scary small southern town, regurgitated crapfest. There were more clichés than fish. Yes, every business man wants to destroy the Earth to make money, and all Southern sheriffs are corrupt. That kind of banal thinking and pedantic development belong as B-story to a trashy horror flick, not the main story in an alleged thriller putting on airs. I would say 3 stars is accurate -- the acting and script were embarrassing but the underwater footage and barracuda attacks were well done given a low budget. It could have been worse, but not by much.

I just saw this one and I quite agree. Although obviously zero budget, run of the mill acting and the Barracuda attack effects were typical (and appropriately gory) for that type of movie, stick with it. I really became engrossed as the investigation part of the story got going. First half, so-so second half pretty darn fascinating. Glad I stayed til the end. I'm surprised I haven't seen this one before. It may well be a "Product of it's time" But some will certainly find it a very interesting one. I recommend.

Another plus - lots of good underwater shots.

I thought this film got better as it went along. It starts out pretty shaky, but picks up considerably once the conspiracy thriller aspect of the narrative kicks in and concludes on a genuinely startling surprise downbeat note. I give it a 5 out of 10 for attempting to be something more than your average Jaws cash-in.

Every so often my wife and I have a bad scifi/horror movie night. We found this one on Netflix and figured it would fit the bill. We were wrong. While the budget was low and some of the acting was only average, it was, IMO, a movie that was fun and interesting to watch. I really liked the teamwork of the sheriff and Mike. Both the plot and the ending were interesting to say the least.

I give it a 6 or 7 out of 10.
