Does anyone know if this the film where a girl is babysitting and is trying to find out where the stalker is phoning from and is told something like: "the calls are coming from the same number, he is in the house on the extension..." ????

You're thinking of "When A Stranger Calls". The line in which you were thinking of is, "Jill, this is Sgt. Stacker, listen to me, we've traced the call, it's coming from inside the house. Now a squad car is on the way over there right now, just get out of that house". That is also a great movie.
