If made today, how would audience react?

An interesting show, but the cultural mood has shifted. A 'wise' older white man giving life advise to urban youth would not go over well.

I don't think there is anything like it in current media.

I could be wrong, a good show that highlights the struggles of the teen living in the inner city...

It could still work now with the right casting. 10 years from now nobody will listen to a white person.

I don't think there is anything like it today, but I can give many examples of the reverse.

Could not and would not happen in this day and age. The coach would need to be black and the show renamed. It could be based on this show but this exact show would not happen.

It wouldn’t be. The communist Democrat party media would call it racist and a metaphor for the plantation blah blah blah. Their lemmings would of course go along with it as they always do.

Some of their predictably brainless storylines would be the team being harassed by mythical white supremacists from Vice news while they play the rich white team from the burbs.

The star of the team being harassed and beat up by mythical white supremacists because he was dating a white girl.

Michelle Obama speaking to the school while while mythical supremacists protest outside.

Actually it’s amazing it hasn’t been remade. It would be a wet dream for the brainless left.

The term the far left is using is 'white savior' or 'white savior elements'.

The term has actually been used to criticize 'To Kill a Mockingbird' (1962).
