I remember seeing a WKRP episode where Bailey did a story about children in either a hospital or some other sort of long term care facility for children with serious medical issues. She described one boy she had supposedly spent a lot of time with during this visit. Later, she's shown confessing to Andy that she had fabricated this boy by combining details of several children she'd met--she was so moved by all their stories that she couldn't choose just one. This of course could put the station in legal jeopardy; Andy fixes things by adding a disclaimer at the beginning of the broadcast, stating that the character of (whatever name Bailey gave to this fictional child) was a composite of several children Bailey had met.... I can't find anything in the episode descriptions about this, does anyone know what episode this was??

I believe that is "Dear Liar."

It was written in the aftermath of the Washington Post publishing Janet Cooke's "Jimmy's World."

Definitely "Dear Liar", season 4.

And yes, Les stole the copy of Bailey's article and read it on air. One of the best parts of the story is Les reading about a child tugging at his skirt.

In the episode, the "story" is so compelling that the newspaper wants to reprint it...that's where Andy came up with the idea to make the story a composite of all the children.

But Les changed the story and made it about a pig, didn't he? He was always talking about pigs and he actually had the coveted "Silver Sow" award!
