In Bad Girls (UK TV series) top dog Yvonne Atkins was brutally murdered by being left to suffocate in a dis-used cell under the grounds of the prison, I heard something similar happened in 'Prisoner'.
I want to start watching this because i've heard great things, it seems there are tons of episodes!
Yeah, I think I know the episode you're talking about, several of the inmates get trapped in an underground tunnel in the early years of the show. The initial episodes in terms of violence are fairly tame compared to the later years but as for deaths there were some fairly decent ones, a man gets stabbed to death in the shower in the first episode, an inmate by nail gun to the forehead, another gets drowned in a wash basin, one gets set alight and burns to death during a prison fire just to name a few.

I might have this confused with another prison drama but I could've sworn it was 'prisoner' that had an inmate murder another inmate and was moving the body around to dispose of it? (so she wouldn't get caught) I could've sworn it was 'prisoner', maybe it was 'prison break' instead aha

I'm unfamiliar with the show, so I couldn't comment for sure, I need to watch them all and I intend too.
The only prison shows I've watched is 'bad girls' and a few episodes of 'prison break' (and of course the revived 'wentworth prison'- based from PCBH).
I did hear that 'PCBH' is pretty grim at times too! especially or its time.
It was definitely way ahead of its time. It does come across as pretty dated at times, the effects aren't that great and some of the acting is pretty atrocious, but it is thoroughly entertaining all the same. You can find it all on Youtube now, every episode's been uploaded
