The part where Midge complains about the loss of her child and her estrangement to her husband, is QUITE similiar to the story with Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr in "From Here to Eternity." I personally viewed it as something of a "rip off."
shareIt's been a while since I've seen the original FHTE (having seen the tv remake with Natalie Wood and William Devane first) and can't remember much of what happened, but the Angie Dickenson plot in this thing, losing her child excuses everything she says and does, is cheap to me. I would have rather she had just been a neglectful mother to a still-living child and bored housewife.
