Who could play Kingsfield today?

I always loved this show and would like to see it remade. Assuming someone did so, who do you imagine could portray Prof Kingsfield today?

reply

Ian McKellen perhaps?

reply

Richard Briers? Right age, right amount of gravitas and he's english!

Might seem a little bit out of left field as he is primarily known for his comedy roles but remember he is also an accomplished stage and shakesperian actor and he also does drama roles very well indeed.

reply

He's a bit old for the part, but William Daniels would be good.

reply

I think Jim Broadbent could pull it off.

Judge Judy

"There's my buttercup!"

reply

Nobody. There was only one Kingsfield -- John Houseman.

reply

^ There was indeed only one John Houseman... but in the remake of my mind (the one written by Aaron Sorkin) Kingsfield is played by Derek Jacobi.

Since I worked with Mr. Houseman and Interned as a Director under him. He really was acting as he was nothing like the Professor that he played. He was always very professional, but he had a great sense of humor. I learned a lot from him. I have three choices: Patrick Stewart from STNG, Eric Braden from Y&R and If still available, Mr. Peter O'Toole.

You May Think Mr. Houseman was an unknown. But Wise up. First Mr. Houseman was in the Business for a long period of time. He worked for "Radio Free America" He Partnered with Orson Welles, with The "Mercury Players". He co-wrote "Citizen Kane" and He was well known for producing Kirk Douglas in the "Vincent Van Gogh" Movie. To Learn more about his life, try reading the Three books he put out. Personally I would like to hear what James Stephen's and Jane Kaczmark would have to say today on their choices to play "Kingsfield".

Actuslly, Houseman was well known, but not in films. He previous experience was working with Orson Welles. He was involved in the radio broadcast of the 1938 War of the Worlds, 1941's Citizen Kane. But yes, as a prolific actor he was very much overlooked. Amd because of his anonymity he wasso memorable as Kingfieldn
