Lolita Joke

Mork and Mindy has jet started airing on Antenna TV in NYC, and in watching episode 5 from season 1: 'Mork in Love. ' There is a scene that is obviously ad libbed by Robin Williams. Mindy is trying to explain Love to Mork, since in America the word love stands for all kinds of love, both romantic love as well as the Love between a father and his daughter.
Mindy: "It's just another side of Love Mork, a Fathers love for his daughter...."
Mork: " Ohh, I know that, I read Lolita."
Pam Dawber looks surprised, almost stunned then she breaks out in a bIg laugh and puts her hands over her eyes and shakes her head, and tries to keep it together, so she can finish the scene.

Of note. There is no chance in hell, that line gets on the air, in thIs dull political correct age, where there is no such thing as shocking humor on network Ttelevision.
Also, you have to give Pam Dawber credit, working with Robin Williams in that setting, when the producer of the show knew his ad-libs were better than anything you could write for his zany character, must have been like walking on a tightrope without a safety net.

That line about Lolita wouldn't get on the air today because audiences would not understand the reference. And even if it did, with dialog around it to explain it to the audience, it would hardly be shocking compared to the explicit remarks that are simply standard procedure for most of the programming I've seen in the last 20 years. Have you watched any of it?

Totally correct. That line is mild by today's standards
