Rainbow Suspenders

Does anyone else think Mork's suspenders were a little over the top? I mean, who ever heard of rainbow suspenders? Or am I just being old fashioned?

reply

I personally love them, I think they convey Mork's personality and general zest for life very well. And, I have seen a pair or two before -- if they were inspired from this show, I'm not sure, but I'm guessing they're not too uncommon...

It was also 1978. Something to keep in mind. i agree w/thatpoorgirl, though. Mork is such an innocent and adorable character.

anyone know where I can get a pair?

reply

They used to sell them, complete with the buttons... one being a finger pointing if I recall and I can't remember the other.

Some kid at my school had them, he was thought of as a dork for wearing them though.

reply

ha! They're "retro" now.

Hah, the show was in Boulder (which is just up the street). Us in Denver call Boulder "30 square miles surrounded by reality". Hasn't changed much either.

I once saw a man standing on a street corner with a long white beard, pot bellied, John Lennon-esq glasses, a brown shirt and brown pants with rainbow suspenders. Santa Claus on his off day?

no! when someone says for shizzle it means: 'for sure'!!!! it makes sense to them!!!!

reply

I don't think any straight male over the age of 6 or 7 should wear rainbow suspenders. Unless you're an Orkain, then you're excused.

reply

You sold me. Now I DEFINITELY want to wear rainbow suspenders.

reply

I actually had one in 1978, but don't remember where I got them.

Would a rainbow belt have been better?

reply

I still have my pair from 1978. I would wear pins on them. I even bought a gold pin that said "Robin".

Look @ the Denver Nuggets from the end of that same era (early 80's)

this is a pro-sports team and they ran around with rainbows on.

Over the top of what?

What OTHER style would suit Mork than 'over the top'?

Can you ever see Mork wearing a grey suit and acting like a bureaucrat, is that what you want?

I don't think they were over the top AT ALL, I wanted him to wear even more colorful and 'over the top' stuff!

Suspender? Are you kidding me? How much more MILD can you get?? That's not even 'under the bottom', that's how insignifigant they are by comparison to what his character is, can do and does iin the show, for crying out loud!

If colors or suspenders are a problem for you, you are CLEARLY watching the wrong show.
