book

This was a great series and is also a beautiful book.

"What do the fish remind you of?"

I've never read the book although I watched the series faithfully as a very young woman. I exasperated my apartment mate by commandeering the television and requiring quiet during the broadcast each week. At least that's how she remembers it. But I grew up watching Masterpiece Theater, and she didn't, poor thing, so she really didn't know what she was missing.

I'm going to read the book now and would love to view the series again. I'm glad to learn that others remember it as fondly as I do.

Both are worth spending time with - although the series has an episode that I didn't like where Edward goes to London - This was not in Bates' novel.

The Welsh girl isn't in the book? I kind of liked her...

I've never liked that episode. It always felt so disjointed and contrived compared to the rest, the fact it was not originally part of the novel explains why.

Also Edward's awful treatment of the young welsh girl in the episode made me dislike him intensely.
