Lillie and the Belgian King

Did the Belgian King really force his attentions on Lillie in her own home? It seems a bit much, even for a monarch of those days.

The behavior of some of the people portrayed here has been described as "a circle of socialite peers and the visiting sprigs of foreign nobility, who descended on her like sailors on a shore leave" and I can't say I disagree. I keep reminding myself that the descendants of these people are alive today. How they felt if they watched LILLIE can only be imagined. I can't imagine it was a pleasant experience.

"Remind me to tell you about the time I looked into the heart of an artichoke."
