Soundtrack Music?

A few people in the comments section talk about the theme music and does anyone know where, if anywhere, one could obtain a copy? It was really great music and deserves to be released on CD.

Seems to have been released on the Decca label in Germany in about 1987. Now a sought-after rarity.

Not exactly the OST but try " Davids Song" by the Kelly Family

reply

Vinyl copies pop up from time to time on Ebay. Avoid the Kelly Family's dreadful vocal version at all costs if you like the original instrumental version.

Oh wow, thank you - I have been humming the music for nearly 30 years now. I will definitely try to find it on ebay. I loved this series but the music's what I remember in particular!

If I'm not mistaken music was composed by Vladimir Cosma (David's Song)

Ya. It was composed by Vladimir Cosma. Got the single version on Ebay. Saw the LP of the entire soundtrack there as well. Both released on the Decca label in Germany in 1978. The series itself is now available for the first time on DVD on the Network label if anyone is interested.

I found this: Abenteuer Klassiker which can be ordered from Amazon.

The UK listing doesn't give any details but the Amazon Germany one does and shows that it includes 4 tracks from the soundtrack. I ordered it yesterday and certainly doing a preview from the German web site, it is the real soundtrack.

Not the complete soundtrack but at least it includes "David's Theme".

I hope that helps.

Got it already, but thanks for your comment. It's a great cd I must say. There are some tracks from "Kidnapped" and all in all it sound great. recommend!

The 7 inch single of 'David's Theme', from the original Kidnapped soundtrack of 1979 was the first record I ever bought. I bought it with my pocket money when I was six years old. Don't ask me why, but it stood out beyond anything else around then; I loved it then and I love it now. I so clearly remember telling my parents that I really wanted to get that song from that TV show. We were living on the Isle Of Man, and something about it was so evocative of the sea, and the wild, and the air, and the past. I'm holding the record in my hand now and would never sell it in a million years. It's so incredibly underrated, one of the most moving and beautiful pieces of music ever written.

Not exactly the soundtrack, but recently I bought this CD: http://www.abeillemusique.com/produit.php?cle=29511

The first track is a symphonic version of "Kidnapped..." soundtrack (La Légende de David, 11'03).

Overall, it's a glorious CD, even if the audience tend to over-applaud a bit (it's a concert CD).
