13 episodes on the dvd

12 episodes on IMDB

13 episodes on the DVD collection ?

I understand it was cut down to 12 episodes for American TV, and they added a voiceover at the beginning to fill in on the scenes that had been cut. I would imagine someone who had seen it in the US wrote that down on IMDB.

I have both the American issue and the British issue DVDs, and there isn't a single bit of difference between them.

The original American broadcast did have the narration over a series of black and white photos meant to look like they were taken during the 1900s. This is missing from the American DVD set.

The correct answer, having now bought the DVD set, is that it originally aired in UK & US with episodes 1 & 2 (Christina & The Blooding) combined into a single but heavily edited episode.

These two episodes were shown in the UK in their entirety on the second running of the show.

The two episodes are both 50min long, the same length as all the rest of the episodes. But when they were combined the runtime was 70min.......losing 30mins

I have the VHS tapes set, not the DVDs.

The VHS version has 13 episodes at a running time of 780 minutes. (I originally posted 690 minutes. Sorry. I was mistaken.) This seems to be the most complete version out there. I bought it from Amazon.

I would prefer the DVD version, but not if it's incomplete and of poor picture and sound quality.
