The show was the best with Rorke and Tattoo - not so without Tattoo

I disliked the show when Tattoo started getting phased out in the early 80's because what made the show good was Mr Rorke and Tattoo playing off each other. In 81 they brought in an annoying girl named Julie who sometimes replaced Tattoo as Rorke's assistant - I hated Wendy Schaal(She can't act and only reason she got roles was because her Dad was an actor) When Villechaize got fired in 83 for supposedly being difficult and demanding the same money as Montalban , they brought in the character of Lawrence who dressed in black which was the opposite of Rorke- this definitely pissed off people even more(me included) and IMO they should have cancelled it after Villechaize got fired because Rorke without Tattoo was like a cake without frosting ,dry and bland - Montalban's Rorke was not the same without Tattoo and it showed - he became more stiff and wooden and the fun of his and Tatoo's repotoire was gone forever. As for Lawrence, his character was even more annoying and boring than Julie's. He was like this gay closeted English butler who Rorke probably banged when he got tired of all the floozies in skirts. I think the 83-84 season with Lawrence(Christopher Hewitt) was the worst - the last gasp of what was once a hit show.

Yes! OMG, all of this yes.

Unfortunately, I'm too young to have watched the show in its original run, but I've grown up with reruns. I cannot stand any episode where Julie gets more air-time than Tattoo. Wendy Schaal's acting is so so bad, I've seen more interesting acting from a 2 year old. I recently saw an episode after the character of Lawrence was brought in, and I saw the intro, shook my head and turned it right off. I can't watch it unless Tattoo is there. He and Roarke play off each other nicely!

The circumstances of Herve being fired annoy me greatly.... like so what if he was difficult? Most actors are, lol. And I think it's absolute crap that he didn't get paid the same money as Ricardo. (But maybe I'm just a tad bit biased, lol  )

Not as difficult as he was. He was reportedly hitting on all the women. We know you thought of him as a sex god and would have gladly accepted, but other women didn't appreciate his advances.

Back in the day she could have been a double for Shelly Long.

I thought she was cute but that was about it, never liked her as an addition to the cast.

Sometimes a movie or tv show plot is so stupid that only the stupid can understand it.

Herve was grwat as Tattoo, but he asked for more money that Montalban and they had to let him go. I had heard he always wanted to have exactly as much or more that Montalban was getting.
