Everyone hates it. It's notorious. It's famous.

But it also kept the show in the top 10/20/30 for three more seasons. By then it's nearest competitor [clone], Dynasty was cancelled by ABC because nobody cared about that show anymore.

Then it limped on for several more seasons before expiring in the early 1990s.

It couldn't have been that bad. Or maybe it was?
