Didja ever notice that Miss Ellie....

..was always bumming a lift into Dallas? Couldn't Jock or JR spring for a used Yugo or something for that broad? 🚘😵

reply

LOL. They finally got her a little Cabriolet, which wound up with the coveted Ewing1 plate after Jock died and they sold his Lincoln. If there's anything that truly points out the difference between Dallas and Dynasty, this is it - the head of the family riding around in a Volkswagen.

And Sue Ellen drove the ranch station wagon for the first few seasons. The Ewings were definitely more modest in their wealth than the Carringtons. But that was the kinda the point. When the Shapiros created Dynasty (which was basically a Dallas clone at first), they wanted to go bigger and bolder. The Ewings had a 12-bedroom mansion, the Carringtons had a 48-room mansion. The Ewings drove their own cars, the Carringtons were chauffered. The Ewings had Teresa the maid and Raoul the butler, the Ewings had an entire staff including a major domo, butlers, maids, cook, chauffeur, etc.

the house they used in the later seasons [post season 1] was so NOT a mansion.

where exactly were the 12 bedrooms. from the outside, it is just too small. for each bedroom to have a bathroom, which is something that mansions do... I don't see the room.

I always thought the house should have ben bigger.

Reading the paper can really be depressing. Mr. Dithers fired Dagwood again.

I'm aware of 8 bedrooms

1 Jock/Miss Ellie/Clayton's bedroom
2 Bobby/Pam's bedroom
3 John Ross' bedroom
4 Sue Ellen/Jamie/Jessica Farlow's room
5 JR's bedroom
6 Jenna/later Christopher's bedroom
7 Lucy's bedroom

8 Not sure where it was located, but there was also a nursery that Christopher stayed in that was shown during season 8

Ray and Donna stayed in another bedroom during the dream season when their house flooded. We never saw it again so I'm not sure if it was real or not. lol

yeah. but from the outside, there doesn't seem to be any logical room for them to have ALL these rooms. plus the guest rooms that they had just in case.

I did notice that but I always chalked that up for either miss ellie or Barbara bel geddes not knowing how to drive.

Miss Ellie did drive in later seasons (post Jock). She a white convertible Volkswagen Rabbit.

I remember her in that white car, it was when she was married to Clayton. Before that in the earlier seasons I remember her saying she was going to ask one of the "Ranch hands" to drive her into Dallas. Or if she was going any further the SF Chopper, which JR and Bobby also used to use. They used that to go to San Angelo when Clayton lived there.
