Ewing oil percentages
Does anybody know the actual percentages the family owned before Bobby and JR gave Jack 5 percent each?

I'm actually surprised the Ewings were willing to be friendly to Jack, have him over for dinner, etc. He essentially blackmailed the brothers into giving him a piece of the company in exchange for essentially doing the right thing. J.R. was right about him.

That was his voting shares, not ownership. When Jock was in South America, he divided control of the company (but not ownership) into voting shares so that J.R. wouldn't completely ruin the company and the family could check up on J.R. John Ross got 10 voting shares, which Miss Ellie controlled if John Ross lived with Sue Ellen off Southfork. J.R. courted Sue Ellen to get control of those shares.
The voting shares became null and void when Jock's will was read, divvying up the company into ownership %s. share
