Coincidence??

My first name is "Dain." I've met tons of Danes, but I've never met anyone who spelled their first name the same way I do. I was searching for my name on Google (come on, admit it, you've all done that) and I found an IMDb link. Amazing!

A few weeks later, at a booksale at the public library, deep in the Mystery section I found a paperback of "The Dain Curse." I bought it, even though I'll never read it, just because my name was on the cover, spelled "correctly."

Read the book man - you may be cursed. YOU GOT TO KNOW.

The "Dain curse" was actually an addiction to morphine, which had plagued several members of the family.

Much worse than a spoiler. This is just plain wrong - at least in the original novel. Only one character was addicted to morphine. It had nothing to do with the purported 'curse', and there was no mention of any other family member or even a single other character in the story, no matter how minor, being addicted or even using.

Why don't you shut the Frick up and actually read the book? Otherwise keep your lying fugly mouth shut!!!

Hammet is really worth reading ... who knows? ... he may lead you to Raymond Chandler, James Ellroy and other superb crime writers ... then there's always the great movies from these writers works:

The Maltese Falcon

The Big Sleep

Farewell my Lovely

L.A. Confidential

...all well worth a look on a quiet night.

(sorry it took me four years to reply, but that's the world of IMDb boards for you).

But you ARE Blanche ... and I AM.
