Had a few buddies over for drinks earlier tonight and I put the Superfriends dvd on purely for nostalgia's sake. It's obvious the series was full of flaws, but one in particular had me absolutely dying with laughter. In the episode Invasian of the Fearians, their computer is tracking rising temperatures from around the world and reads: "USA... Russia... Taiwan... Jersey".
Nostalgic value aside, one should never confuse this show with being of high quality.
I noticed another one. I don't remember the name of the episode. But it was about the Legion of Doom killing off each member of the Justice League one by one. It started with the heroes attending the funeral of Batman. So, it started with Batman being dead. However, just a few minutes later, it has the Superfriends leave the Hall of Justice, and Batman is there, even though he is supposed to be dead at that point. It must be old footage, because I can't imagine them taking the time to draw him in an episode where he was already dead. I found that a massive flaw.
sharethere were many flaws, batmans logo was painted yellow and black but reversed, Superman's cape was Blue, Green Lantern had 3 arms, and the biggest most common flaw just by his nature is FLASH having the ability to fly.. I WOULD ALSO SAY when they switched superman, green lantern, and wonder woman's lives which made them none members of the justice league, which stopped superman from ever reaching earth.. It should've back fired with Bizzaro being he is made from superman's dna.. That's just my tae on that one..
Challenge of the Super Friends was and still is one of the best cartoons I ever enjoyed growing up. Then Maybe Transformers and Thundercats.. Of course all of the Hanna Barbara stuff as well (jetsons,flintstones) and of course all the old bugs bunny characters, along with Woody Wood Pecker, and definetly the classic Pop-Eye's from in color to B&W
Just a head up this dvd is great, and so is the Season One 16 episodes with 2 shows with commentary, along with sleeping bag saturdays which has all the DC writers, and people like James Tucker who was involved with Superman The Animated Series from 1996-2000, then the Justice League, and then the most recent amazing show.. Justice League Unlimited..
Whatever you do do not buy season two, the one without the wording "Challenge of the" Super Friends.. Season one is Packaged with Season 2, and all season two is every gone from the bad guy comic villains.. The entire start in the swamp is gone, and the only super heroes left are SUPERMAN, BATMAN & ROBIN, WONDER WOMAN, AQUAMAN AND THE WORST CREATIONS EVER ZAN & RAYNA AND GLEEK THE MONKEY / WONDER TWINS .. They always turned into the dubest things ever, always water and some bird or polar bear or something that walked..
They kind of made fun of the entire wonder twins and the black vulcan and the apache chief and the samuari when Justice League Unlimited did THE ULTIMEN.. should definetly own JLU.. I have everything froma kid, even the Galactic Guardians which is even better (which isn't saying much ) then season two of the Super Friends.. Only one worth buying (besides the best of the several episode dvd) is Season 1 of Challenge of the Super Friends..
SHAME WE WENT FROM THE AMAZING BATTLE BETWEEN THE SUPER FRIENDS VS THE LOD TO A WATERED DOWN JUSTICE LEAGUE AND SOME STUPID CRIMINALS FROM OUTER SPACE, HALF A$$ED VILLAINS, ETC..
