it is strange that none of them did much after BLAKE'S 7.

I was always a huge BLAKE'S 7 fan but I was thinking about the cast and it struck me that none of them went on to anything bigger than Blake's seven.

I don't include JOSETTE SIMON or GLYNIS BARBER in these comments.

Gareth Thomas is a highly respected actor but he seems to have ran away from the limelight.

Hopefully none of them are starving but they were never again in a big tv series and I wonder about their earnings.

I don't mean to be nosy but I wonder if being in Blake was enough to set them up for life? do they get a cut of the DVD sales? they could not have got paid that much while making the thing could they?

I expect that BLAKE was just a lucky break in otherwise less interesting careers?

I saw Michael Keaton in an episode of Eastenders a few months ago playing a priest and although not privy to his current earning power, it seemed the jammy whotsit hadn`t lost any more hair; unless of course he had an expensive syrup!

You're not taking British culture into account. It isn't all about the TV screen. Gareth is a renowned actor in the theatre. Paul Darrow is always a safe pair of hands for any historical roles. Jacqueline has long departed and is, I understand, running an animal statuary in Africa. And though Blake's 7 was a fan favourite, it really wasn't a big production, what with shaky sets and locations like industrial estates, Hampstead Heath and Epping Forest.

Anyway, here's an article saying what I said:

Many of the B7 actors also have strong careers in theatre, something that is still very big in the UK.

For most British actors, theatre is their first love, and all the B7 cast have gone back to that (with a few tv appearances). Unfortunately typecasting does exist, and a lot of sci fi actors (including most of the Trek franchise) have found it restricting.
I've just watched a great interview with Paul Darrow, and as much as he loves B7, he felt he was limited in tv roles afterwards.
