I love this show my daughter likes this show. The budget and the Star Wars lawsuit didn't help. Maybe a new show would give us hope that this world will get better.

There is a new show. The 2004 remake with Edward James Olmos and produced by Ronald D. Moore. It was streaming on Netflix,but not anymore. You'll have to get the DVDs.

With all respect to it, it was good in it's own way, but the poster hopes for:

Maybe a new show would give us hope that this world will get better.

I somehow don't feel that the remake with all its depression, sadness, bleakness, humorlessness and darkness is what the poster is looking for. 

There is always Star Trek:The Next Generation
